The Richmond District in San Francisco


With popular destinations like Golden Gate Park, Lincoln Park, and Ocean Beach, the mostly residential district of Richmond in San Francisco is the perfect home for many people living in California. Despite its current desirability, it may surprise you to learn that this area was once written off as devalued “outside lands”. Nowadays, this could not be further from the truth. These once empty lands started being filled with people when they discovered its magnificent seaside, which is what makes the area so coveted and fun for residents and visitors alike.

Visit One of the Many Parks


The before mentioned Golden Gate and Lincoln Parks are some of the most popular places to go in Richmond. However, you likely will not get the full effect of either of these parks in one day. As such, you will need to plan accordingly to ensure that you get to see and enjoy all the sites in these parks.

There are two major museums in Golden Gate Park. For art lovers, there's the DeYoung Fine Arts museum. For the science-minded, the California Academy of Sciences is sure to delight. If the splendors of nature calls to you, be sure to check out the Conservatory of Flowers.

 At Lincoln Park, be prepared for a breathtaking view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Lincoln Park is where the Palace of the Legion and Honor is located, a fine arts museum that holds the famous “The Thinker” statue. 

Enjoy a Seaside Dinner


Of course, you cannot travel to California without taking the opportunity to gaze out into the Pacific Ocean. Richmond is home to some of the best places to look out at the Pacific. 

As you explore outer Richmond, stop in to have lunch at the famous Cliff House restaurant, where you can get a great view of the water while you eat. Cliff House’s website even has the time that the sun will be setting on any given night so that you can plan your dinner accordingly to see the wonderful sunset over the water while you enjoy your food.

While the parks and beaches are great, they are not the only fun things to do in Richmond. Here are some other ways to spend your time:
